Sport Enduro Race

Saturday, August 7, 2021 – Time TBD

Take off at the bottom of the hill (time TBD). Sport Enduro stages will begin at TBD from the top of the hill. 

Sport Enduro Stage 1: TBD

Sport Enduro Stage 3: TBD

Experience the thrill of enduro racing on green and blue rated trails.  Timed downhill stages are followed by both chairlift rides and pedaling back to the top of the hill.  The course will be set up to accommodate riders of all skill levels.  Please stay tuned for a detailed course map.  The Sport Enduro race will consist of 2-3 timed stages taking place across select ultimate flow trails.

Open Enduro Race

Test your skills on Spirit Mountain’s most technical trails all rated single or double black diamond! Timed downhill stages are followed by both chairlift rides and pedaling back to the top of the hill.  The course is designed for experienced/advanced riders.  Please stay tuned for a detailed course map.  The Open Enduro race will consist of 4-5 timed stages taking place on some of Duluth’s most technical downhill’s.

Partial Exposure Cross Country Recreational Race

Saturday, August 7, 2021 – Time TBD

Enjoy some of Duluth’s best flow trails in a 15 mile single loop course.  Race takes place exclusively on the green and blue rated Duluth Traverse trails.  The course will be set up to accommodate riders of all skill levels.  The race begins at the Grand Avenue Chalet located at the base of Spirit Mountain. After a 5 mile neutral roll out through west Duluth, the race shoots up Lincoln Park Drive and into the Duluth Traverse.  The course climbs up to the top of the Piedmont trail system and traverses over to Brewer Park. The highlight will be the descent down the Keene Creek trail, one of Duluth’s premier flow trails.  Still smiling, finish up the race on the Kingsbury Traverse back to the base of Spirit Mountain for some food, cold beverages, and live music!

Northern Exposure Cross Country Race (PRO)

Saturday, August 7, 2021 – Time TBD

Get ready to test yourself on Duluth’s most technical XC trails!  Every inch of travel and dropper post will be used to complete this 30 mile course.  Scattered with diamond and double black diamond trails, this course is designed for experienced/advanced riders looking for a challenge. After a 5 mile neutral roll out through west Duluth, the race shoots up Lincoln Park Drive and into the Duluth Traverse.  The course climbs up to the top of the Piedmont trail system, and this is where the fun begins!  Highlighting all of the most technical trails in the Piedmont area including DM, Skyline, Admiral Rockbar, and Merrit Creek. The course heads over to Brewer Park and touches on highlights like Kissing Booth and Casket Quarry trail.  A flowing descent down Keene Creek and final push up and down Spirit Mountain will bring you to the finish line.  Make sure to stick around for the food, cold beverages, and live music!

Downhill Race

Saturday, August 7, 2021 – Time TBD

Race against the clock on two timed runs down Spirit Mountain’s expert downhill run Calculated Risk.  Results are based on the best of two runs.  Riders are required to wear full face helmets.  The heckling crowd will be out in full force on the Terrarium, so be ready to send!

Youth Downhill Race

Saturday, August 7, 2021 – Time TBD

Open to racers of all ages but geared towards young up and coming downhill riders.  This race takes place on the green rated All Weather Trail.  Come experience the fun!

WHIP OFF! Best Trick Competition

Saturday, August 7, 2021 – Time TBD

Ready to show off your best whip or newly performed trick?  Keep the party going with a Whip Off/Best Trick competition taking place on the table top kicker at the base of Spirit Mountain.  Cash prize and winner takes all! Whip not up to par? No worries! Enjoy a cold one and watch the action go down!

 

Kids Course and Kids Events

Saturday, August, 2021 – 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Kids Activities Area Open (ongoing activities): 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Ongoing events include yard games, tile painting, bike decorating, and various biking activities.

Kids Course: 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM
The Kids Course will take place on a mellow downhill path at the base of Spirit Mountain. Aimed towards the youngest of riders, this course is about having FUN and developing bike handling skills. Spend some time here with your little ones, introducing them to the thrill of gravity!

Craft Activities and Bike Decorations: 10:00 AM – 12:15 PM*
Stop by to decorate your bike with craft materials, paint tiles to take home, and draw custom race plates! 

Bike Parade: 12:30 PM – 12:45 PM*
The best bike parade in the Northland! This event is a chance for kids to show off their newly designed bikes with a short ride through the festival’s vendor village.

Bike Games: 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM*
A fun way to test kids’ skills and develop new ones. Partake in various fun bike activities like bike gliding, slow races, and bike rodeo!

Kids Course Fun Ride: 2:00 PM – 2:30 PM*
Kids will weave their way through the gentle downhill Kids Course outlined by hay bales. Compete for the best time against siblings or newfound friends! 

Fire Department Water Truck: 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM*
Take a break from the heat by getting doused by a fire truck water fountain! The truck will attend the festival within this time frame when the fire department is available.

The Return of the Powder Monkey Cross-Country Races

Part of the Minnesota Mountain Bike Series.

Sunday, August 8, 2021  Race registration for the MN Mountain Bike Series has been temporarily suspended due to the COVID-19 outbreak. Please continue to check back for more information.

Features separate races for riders of all abilities, from kids and beginners to pros.

Formerly known as the “Great Hawk XC Race,” the Minnesota Mountain Bike Series has renamed the race in 2018 as “The Return of the Powder Monkey.”

 

At this time, we are planning for the KA Bike Festival to be held as scheduled. In the event that CDC, State, and/or local authority guidelines require the Bike Festival to be canceled, you will be refunded 100% of your registration fee. The refund policy for any other purpose remains the same; refunds will not be given for any other reason than KA cancellation due to COVID-19.
